He worked as a sports writer, news editor, and special publications editor at newspapers in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana during a 34-year career in journalism. He's authored three books and has published books since 2020.His first book, Murder in Wauwatosa: The Mysterious Death of Buddy Schumacher, was published in 2012 by The History Press. It is the story of the disappearance of an 8-year-old boy from Paul's hometown in 1925 and the subsequent investigation into the boy's murder. Wicked Columbus, Indiana, published in 2017 by the same publisher, tells the true tales of some of that city's more salacious stories. His third book, 200 Years of First Presbyterian Church, Columbus, Indiana, was published by PathBinder in 2024.Paul was born in Madison, Wisconsin, is a graduate of Wauwatosa East High School and attended both the University of Wisconsin - Madison and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, graduating from the latter with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications (Radio/TV sequence).He is active in community theater and has twice run for political office.He lives in Columbus, Indiana, with his wife, children's author Kimberly S. Hoffman, has three daughters, a son, two stepdaughters and a granddaughter.
