Author Information

A native New Yorker, Mary Taylor Simeti has lived in Sicily since 1962. She and her husband help their daughter run the family farm, where they produce wine, olive oil and organic produce. Simeti is the author of various books on Sicily, including On Persephone's Island: A Sicilian Journal (Knopf, 1986), a history of Sicilian food entitled Pomp and Sustenance (Knopf 1989) and, most recently, Travels with a Medieval Queen (Farrar Straus Giroux, 2001). Simeti has also written on travel and food for American and British publications such as Gourmet Magazine, the New York Times and the Financial Times. Guy Ambrosino is a photographer whose work can be seen in many cookbooks, including Field & Feast, Coming Home to Sicily, The Maverick Cookbook and What Happened to Sunday Dinner?. Kate Winslow, a former editor at Gourmet, is a writer, recipe developer and food stylist. She is the co-author of Coming Home to Sicily and Agricola Cookbook. She lives with her husband, the photographer Guy Ambrosino, and their son in Lambertville, New Jersey. Their book, Onions Etcetera. The Essential Allium Cookbook, was recently published by the Burgess Lea Press.
