OverviewShoulder surgery is now firmly established as a subspecialty of orthopaedic surgery and is changing at a rapid pace. New developments have recently occurred, particularly in shoulder joint replacement and arthroscopy, which are evolving with respect to their indications, technique and design. Shoulder Surgery: An Illustrated Textbook focuses on standard treatment regimens used by orthopaedic surgeons with a particular interest in the shoulder. Surgical technique is described in detail, and each chapter also contains a comprehensive description of the aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment alternatives, all lavishly illustrated throughout. In addition the reader is provided with a complete list of references at the end of each chapter. Knowledge and experience within the world of shoulder surgery is increasingly being shared between surgeons internationally. The editors of Shoulder Surgery: An Illustrated Textbook have assembled a team of over 70 contributors reflecting the growing co-operation between shoulder surgeons in Europe and the United States, and have endeavoured to represent the current practice of shoulder surgery throughout the world.
