"Born in Berlin in 1930 to a Jewish family, Butter was deported in Nazi prison camps. Forbidden by American relatives, who took her in post-war, to speak of her experiences, she is now making up for lost time with this remarkable memoir. I can't put it better than Tobias Steed who says that it ""celebrates the exercise of empathy for others even in the most inhumane and turbulent of times; a relevant message in an age where similar hatreds and discrimination rise once again"". -- Editor's Choice, The Bookseller - 16.08.19"
