Shooting Types: The Second Barrel

Overview

Giles Catchpole, one of the most popular and amusing contributors to the Shooting Gazette, together with the renowned and brilliant cartoonist Bryn Parry, have loaded up another game bag's worth of sharply written and wittily observed shooting types and unleashed them onto an expectant readership through The Second Barrel, a sequel to Shooting Types. Their characters appear in a monthly column in the Shooting Gazette; in which Catchpole wickedly and brilliantly observes the eccentricities of the sportsmen, dogs, beaters, hosts and supporting characters all of which are superbly illustrated by Bryn Parry's perceptive and humorous cartoons. Every Shot or shooting enthusiast will recognise many of the characters in this book. An ideal gift which will without doubt become an essential addition to every country sportsman's bookshelf. Reviews

When genius meets genius the outcome is perfection. And the two men behind this book fall into that category, as regular Shooting Gazette readers will be well aware. Giles Catchpole has a unique understanding of the different characters involved in shooting, and with his mischievous sense of humour and understanding of the language, his words give pleasure enough in themselves. However, when united with Bryn Parry's simply superb cartoons, the combination is unstoppable... Every shooting household should have a copy of this book — it is pure fun and you might just recognise yourself and your friends in some of the stereotypes. * Shooting Gazette * A brilliant book observing the eccentricities of sportsmen, dogs, beaters, hosts and supporting characters.
