She holds a PhD in linguistics from Huddersfield and researches the construction of crime, criminals and victims across a variety of text types. Among other publications, she is the author of two monographs, Crime and Corpus (2015) and Language and Crime (2016, Palgrave Macmillan) as well as co-editor of The Linguistics of Crime (2022). Mahmood K. Ibrahim (known as Mahmood Baban) is Professor of Linguistics at Imam Ja’afar Al-Sadiq University in Iraq and director and supervisor of the language courses at Kirkuk Institute.
