OverviewThe inside of a bomb shelter is all that Hannah has ever known. For fourteen years, she has been raised by her fellow residents, who taught her about the nuclear winter that led them down below the surface. But when the possibility of leaving the shelter arises, Hannah begins to wonder, is the evil that caused the Winter War awaiting them above? And is it with her in the bomb shelter below? The place consists of just one set and only a handful of characters, making it manageable to stage. Sheltered was written in 2010 when Spencer was taking a course in San Diego on the writings of political theorist Hannah Arendt. This play was his final assignment, which seeks to investigate questions of good and evil, freedom and tyranny.
