Events, experiences and observation caused her to want to know more about how Mvumi had come to be, and what had shaped the place and the relationships. Before leaving in July 1999 she discovered what she could from local people and then completed her research in archives in Australia and Britain. This book is the fruit of her research over the last 9 years.
