Overview

A blind date to a ball changed her life for ever. He was loving, caring and seemed to be all she ever wanted. His wealthy family farmed in the north island of NZ and Simon was to inherit the farm. Lisa always wanted to farm so left her career to begin a family and be supportive of her new husband. Together they worked on and made plans to improve the farm. Lisa made scarifies to build a better future for her sons believing her husband was supportive. Simon's attitude slowly altered and Lisa found herself dealing with a controlling, manipulating husband, who blamed Lisa for everything. Finally realizing the toxic environment she and her sons were living she made some hard decisions. This is a story of living with a narcissistic husband and dealing with his controlling family. It goes from the highs of a new relationship, before slowly deteriorating into an emotionally crippling hole, which Lisa has to crawl out of. The story covers seasonal farming activities and touches on the culture of NZ farming families. The expectations placed upon the sons and daughters for the continuity of the farm and the price they pay.
