Overview

First published by the Smithsonian Institution, this work answers the most frequently asked questions about sharks. The book is in a question and answer format, and provides knowledge for a general audience as well as students of marine biology. The book provides a comprehensive review of the biology of sharks in three broad divisions. The first division is a general overview of shark biology and evolutionary history. The second division is on ""supersharks""; those sharks interesting in terms of life history, size or temperament. The last division covers the interactions between sharks and humans, and looks at the risk of shark attack. It provides a brief survey of the commercial uses of sharks.
