Overview

Raine Learsi doesn't want to join the military-not with Daemon in charge. Following her vacation with Ajus King during his last few months as a civilian, an international incident breaks out, preventing Raine from leaving the country. The Nails strike, leaving her no choice but to lead the campaign once more against the mysterious alien foes. This time, however, the toxic effect of the Singing Shards takes its toll on her mind, awakening the terrible power of Voice Three. Meanwhile, a Daemon whistleblower exposes Daemon's secrets to the world, causing its president, Nimbus Cain, to flee from justice. As he takes his fate into his own hands, the costs of the war become personal, and the pilots realize they'll need much more than the Voices to survive it.
