Cousins Luna and Billy Hardstone grew up together on a family farm, until one day, their mothers abruptly moved them away to the city and cut off from any contact with their grandfather and fathers. A few years after their grandpa's death, Billy bought back the Hardstone farm, intending to live there only in the company of his beloved dog. However, his hard-won peace is shattered when Luna appears on his doorstep: desperate, in trouble, and just as dramatic as ever. It quickly turns out that the stark differences between the cousins' personalities are just the beginning of their problems. Gabriela, the daughter of the former Hardstone orchard caretaker, believes that fifteen years earlier, Billy and Luna's fathers hanged him from an apple tree and staged it as a suicide. Driven by a desperate need to uncover the truth, Billy and Luna must find their long-unseen fathers - a daunting task they'd both wished to avoid. Worse yet, the land seems to be cursed: the orchard has fallen into mourning, refusing to yield fruit since its caretaker's death. Gabriela, having a unique sight and a bond with nature, thinks she might be able to bring the trees back to life.
