Overview

As an Air Force officer and nuclear missile commander, Captain Kathy Gelwin is not only highly respected and trusted, she's dedicated nearly to a fault, putting most of her personal life on the back burner in order to serve her country at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. Things change suddenly for Kathy when she stumbles across a key part of a high-tech device she isn't meant to see. She puts everything back the way she found it, but with her eidetic memory, it's nearly impossible for her to forget what she's seen. Kathy struggles to learn the truth behind the technology, and she wrestles with who she can trust. In the meantime, unbeknownst to Kathy, a dissatisfied serviceman has been using his connections at Malmstrom to advance his own status with a nefarious Russian organization. With every intention of destroying the American government, the Russians must decipher what Kathy has seen and weaponize the technology in time to use it for the greatest impact. When Kathy and some of her closest friends begin piecing everything together, it becomes a race between a patriotic team of airmen and an eager group of terrorists to decide the fate of the incoming President and the United States itself.

Author Information

Cindy began her career in the Air Force, where she served as a space and missile operator and a scientist for 7 years. She rose to the rank of Captain. Following her Air Force career, she was accepted into the Computer Science and Engineering doctoral program at the University of Notre Dame. Here Cindy was a GAANN Fellow (Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need), where she worked with the Kaneb Learning Center to expand her technical teaching skills. In 2013, Cindy began teaching at the Forever Learning Institute. In 2021, she professed into the Order of St. Francis as a lay person. Cindy completed additional master's degrees in Applied Mathematics and Data Science. Her personal website is www.cindynikolai.com. Currently, Cindy is a software developer and an Information Technology consultant. She also is the author of two books. In her spare time, Cindy loves crocheting, serving the community, and building the world's largest jigsaw puzzle.
