Shadow of the Eagles: Book 4 of the Napoleonic Alternate Series

Overview

The year is 1809 The terrible fires of the Napoleonic Wars have rekindled in their fury in the year 1809, with fighting in Spain, Southern Russia, and now Ireland. French forces have landed in Western Ireland at Fenit and Ballybunion, led by two of Napoleon's best marshals, André Masséna and Nicolas Soult. Almost immediately, their arrival stirs up national sentiment in the country, and the Irish prepare to rise in revolt to try and shake off the British yoke. War is in full swing in the Iberian Peninsula, with the French forces now in control of Northern Portugal following their capture of Oporto, and the British having a new general in the name of Arthur Wellensley, a man who had made a stellar reputation in India. Both sides are now on a collision course over who will be the master of Spain and Portugal. In Hungary, Emperor Francis the 1st continues to be engaged in a fight to the finish with the Ottoman occupier in order to liberate the Magyars and reclaim the territory for the Austrian Empire. A great victory had been won by the Austrians over the Turks at Buda, and with the Grand Vizier fully occupied in the Yedisan and Southern Russian fighting, General Kutusov, things are looking increasingly likely to end up in an Habsburg victory. Following a great Ottoman victory at Kamula Hill, the Ottoman Army under Grand Vizier Mustapha Beiraktar moves south in pursuit of the retreating Russian forces, and aims to reclaim all of the Yedisan and the Crimea for the Sultan. Meanwhile, Napoleon watches and waits for the reports of his Irish landings, ready to jump across the English Channel from Boulogne, to bring the war to the British and finish France's arch-enemy once and for all. This is the story of the Napoleonic Wars.
