OverviewHow prevalent was sexualized violence in the Vietnam War? How is this displayed in film? One of the Gang: Sexualized Violence in Vietnam (Miitary/Vietnam War) explores gang rape in Vietnam Films There is an often-told story of Vietnam soldiers returning home from the war to find protestors spitting on them. Not all soldiers who served in the Vietnam War were 'double veterans, ' who raped civilians before killing them. However, there are documented incidents, like the My Lai Massacre, where soldiers who may not have ever thought of performing horrific actions did so. The focus in this book not to determine the frequency of rape, or the number of rapes that occurred, but to discuss the socialization processes that enhance rape proclivities, the link between sex and violence that enhances the opportunity to rape, the rationales behind rape in Vietnam, and to show how accurately films about the Vietnam War portrayed these processes. One of the Gang examines Three Vietnam War Films portrayal of gang rape. A discussion of the My Lai massacre. Explores Private Gomer Pyle from 'Full Metal Jacket' as a victim of sexualized violence. Discusses gang rape of Vietnamese women in 'Platoon.' Explains the group dynamic of the platoon in 'Casualties of War.' Scroll up and grab your copy today!
