Diane K. Shrier, M.D., is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at George Washington University Medical Center, on the attending staff at Children s National Medical Center, and a Consultant to Walter Reed Medical Center. She also practices child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry in Washington, D.C. Previously she was Vice-Chair in the Department of Psychiatry at Children s National Medical Center and before that was Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Shrier has published on a wide variety of psychiatric and gender-related issues. The initiative for the current book was work done for the Committee on Women of the New Jersey Psychiatric Association.
