Reviews

A remarkable contemporary contribution to gender and transgender studies * Psychology of Sexualities Review * A breath of fresh air. The enclosed essays present a wealth of lived experience amidst a field stale with rhetoric. * Journal of Constructivist Psychology * Extensively researched, thoughtfully organized and a thoroughly enjoyable book to read. This text provides a starting point for students, academics, policy advocates, and practitioners of psychoanalysis, marriage and family therapy, sexology, gender studies, psychology, and social work to improve their work with the TGNC community. * American Psychological Association * Working with trans patients in the area of sexuality can be exciting and challenging, but also daunting given the paucity of clinical research, conversation and case-study that blights the field. Bracingly defying the historic exclusion of trans experience from cultural discourse, the authors and editors of this intellectually exuberant and groundbreaking work have issued a collective rallying-cry that is sure to be embraced far and wide: 'let's (finally) talk about trans sex'. -- Ian Kerner, PhD LMFT, sex therapist and NY Times best-selling author Thought-provoking, cutting-edge, heart-felt, and long overdue this book examines the intersections of psychoanalysis, sexuality and TGNC experiences. No longer are trans experiences only about identity but also include sexuality and relationships both inside and outside of the treatment room. Bravo! Brava!...and beyond the gender binary. -- Suzanne Iasenza, PhD Psychologist & Sex Therapist, NYC Author of “Transforming Sexual Narratives"" This book is an artful and impressive compilation of essays, interviews, opinions and case studies exploring the full spectrum of trans identities and sexuality. It should be a definitive 'go to' book for all health professionals who work with trans communities. -- Asa Radix, MD, MPH Senior Director of Research and Education, Callen-Lorde Community Health Center
