Overview

In the delivery of this series, I was conscious of a blessing, not only in my own experience, but also that it had its effect in inspiring others to new and more urgent endeavors. We are fully persuaded that the first and highest duty of the Pastor himself is not the care of the sheep only, but the accomplishment of conversion of sinners to CHRIST. I have therefore dared to dedicate this volume to the two classes mentioned among the gifts of our ascended Lord, Pastors and Evangelists. If it shall bring inspiration to either, I will have an adequate return; and if, perchance, to both, my joy will be double.
