With London serving as the backdrop for the collection, its lights, concrete and speed become the ache, skin and grief of the journey with the queer self, especially the queer body. By turns exhilarating and tragic, we follow on a taut journey through the city and with the self, through  first encounters with cityscapes and sex, love, grief.  A conversational, sometimes biting, collection about learning to live within your own skin, Sensitise centres touch – and occasionally the lack thereof – as the vessel for romance, loss, joy and sorrow, archiving a queer experience that is honest, personal and vividly real in all its authentic beauty and ugliness.

Author Information

Adam Clayton-Lambe is a performer and writer from Manchester. After graduating from the University of York with a degree in English, he moved to London to pursue a master’s in Musical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. His debut poetry collection, Sensitise, explores the queer self through both the body and touch, and is a project close to his heart.
