Grady Harp Top Contributor: Children's Books HALL OF FAMETOP 100 REVIEWER 5.0 out of 5 stars 'It's okay to be sad...whenever you miss her, we can send her balloons...' Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2020Author Lindsey Luckey is a graduate student from Duke University and serves as a full time RN. She has published over twenty children's books to date - each well illustrated and entertaining as well as addressing the challenges children encounter - helping them to understand and cope with tough situations. In this book Lindsey writes the story and the experience of reading is enhanced by the illustrations of Carlos Varejao as she opens this book: 'It's been a whole week since I last saw my Mimi. I miss her a lot but Mommy says that Mimi has grown angel wings and is flying in Heaven now! Mommy says that Heaven is a beautiful place and that we will all see Mimi again someday.' This dear opening begins a very fine story that explains to children about the loss of loved ones - especially elderly grandparents - and how honoring them in memory can become more understandable with such ideas as sending balloons into the sky. This is a well-written little story that helps children understand the passing of family or friends and ways to deal with that loss. Lindsey proves her mettle with this excellent children's book.
