OverviewI wrote this novel in 1995, when medical genetics was starting to bloom. It was the beginning of gene identifi cation to discover the causes of many inherited diseases. Prior to that time, there was no genetic research development to help doctors choose the appropriate drug to treat a particular disease. I developed this story about drug manufacturers, genetic research companies, doctors, and hospitals all vying for the almighty buck. I became motivated through my observation of all these entities, watching how they were only interested in money and not in helping the sick. Through the story, I brought to bear genetic realities that have since come to the forefront. The following is an excerpt from the 2016 Scientifi c American article, ""20 Years after Dolly the Sheep Led the Way-Where Is Cloning Now?""
