Reiner sees musical time in a multitude of semiotic manners, corresponding to Nattiez's tripartition of musical meaning. In a series of analyses of music from diverse eras, he exposes sound both as the physical manifestation of time and as a symbol of time. Anyone who is concerned with the complex interrelationship among music, meaning, and temporality must read this book. (Jonathan D. Kramer, Columbia University) Author InformationThe Author: Thomas Reiner is a composer, music producer, performer, and writer.
