Seminole & Creek War Chronology: Seminole & Creek War Battles & Events

Overview

This is the most comprehensive list of events and battles of the Florida Seminole and Creek Wars. The Florida Seminole Wars were the longest, most costly and bloodiest conflict the United States Military ever fought against Native American people during the time of Indian Removal. What history calls three wars are considered among the Seminoles as one long conflict lasting decades. This book provides a regional perspective of the Seminole Wars importance by covering the first and second Creek Wars of the southeast. After 25 years of research, the author has documented many small skirmishes and events that were often overlooked in previous publications making this a must-have for anyone interested in Florida or American history. Hundreds of battles, skirmishes, and events are listed by date. Many names of officers, forts, and Seminole leaders are listed that do not often get mentioned in most history books. Reviews

I am a Second Seminole War period (1835-1842) researcher. This book was a reference in a bibliography I had seen and I purchased it based on the fact that it had good references, a solid bibliography, was well written and very well researched. This reference has been invaluable for the information that I have been able to obtain and use for my research. I would say that it is a must have for anyone researching Florida's Second Seminole War. (A Review on Amazon.com) The thing about this book is that it is the ultimate companion piece when researching the Creek/Seminole wars. You won't become an expert by reading it, but it is a great guideline for events. Very Comprehensive. (A Customer on Amazon.com)

Author Information

Chris Kimball has always been interested in Florida history and Seminole Indians due to growing up in Florida and his mother working as a cultural anthropologist, interested in Native people. After earning a degree in Public Administration from UCF, Chris served as a Sergeant in the US Army, in the Adjutant General Corp, where he learned to navigate the various systems of administration and paperwork that the Army is famous for, which prove invaluable for researching Seminole War History. Chris has also been active in historical living history presentations of the Seminole War time since college and recreating Seminole clothing from the Seminole war era, and writing articles, web pages, and newsletters. He has assisted with museum exhibits and made reproductions of outfits for museums. This timeline book was started in the mid-1990's when Chris was in downtown Orlando and would go to the library to research the Seminole War. Although it was one of the best libraries in Florida for research at the time, he found that there was not enough information available for a consistent timeline of battles of the era to use for programs and reenactments. So, he decided to start his own, which he knew would become available to everyone else. He has never stopped researching the Florida Seminole wars and related events!
