The author of over 50 journal articles and editor of three books, as well as Editor-in-Chief of the Arid Soil Research and Rehabilitation journal, he is President of International Symposia on Environmental Biogeochemistry, Inc. and a member of the American Chemical Society, American Society of Microbiology, Soil Science Society of America, and International Soil Science Society, among others. A native of Latvia, Dr. Skujins received the B.A. degree (1957) in biochemistry and Ph.D. degree (1963) in agricultural chemistry, both from the University of California, Berkeley.
