Syed N. Asad, MD, graduated from high school in Hyderabad, India, with high honors; attended Osmania University Medical School; and completed his medical training in the United States. He taught medicine and nephrology at a New York state university for nearly twenty years before opening an independent practice in nephrology and dialysis. As a senior research physician at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Dr. Asad helped pioneer in vitro neutron activation analysis. And as a palliative caregiver and end-of-life consultant, he came to appreciate the need for faith and spirituality in helping patients. Dr. Asad has been a leader in his profession and his community, where he helped found a mosque. Now retired, he enjoys tennis, golf, traveling, birding, walking on the beach, and sharing his faith with young people facing the challenges of modern times. This book will guide and prepare them for a balanced life as a world-class citizen and humanitarian.
