Schatkin is the principal of a law firm in Long Island and New York City. He has published five book chapters in the fields of evidence, criminal law, and family law. He is the author of Select Legal Topics: Civil, Criminal, Federal, Evidentiary, Procedural, and Labor (University Press of America, 2009), a 650-page legal treatise covering most areas of American law, and a more general book of philosophical essays.
