Table of ContentsReviewsFrom blogger Lappone- It is rare to find a knitting book this well written and that provides this amount of useful information. And it deserves to be read by knitters all over the world. Just under 300 pages and propped with knowledge it is one of the best books on knitting that I have read. Anne Bardsgard is an educated Norwegian artist. Textile's has always been dominant in her expression and her work is rewarded and shown in various exhibitions in Norway. For anyone with more than a passing interest in Norwegian mittens, this book is a must-have. The charts are a fantastic resource, and the section on mitten characteristics an excellent guide for the knitter wanting to design mittens in the Selbu tradition. --Carolyn Vance, TKGA ""If there is such a thing as a Selbu knitting scholar, Anne Bårdsgård is it. ... This book has 'recipes' for a hat, socks, and two sweaters, where you can plug in the motif of your choice. [And] knitters are spoiled for choice ... there are more than 450 (!) here, gathered from museums and personal collections.""--Modern Daily Knitting ""This book would be of value to anyone with an interest in Norwegian knitting or textiles. [It's] definitely not a 'how to knit' book, but for the intermediate-advanced knitter who is familiar with stranded knitting, it offers a wealth of information, motifs, and pattern templates for knitting one's own Selbu-style garment.""--Carolyn Vance for Cast On If there is such a thing as a Selbu knitting scholar, Anne Bardsgard is it. ... Knitters are spoiled for choice as far as motifs go: there are more than 450 (!) here gathered from museums and personal collections. The historic photos are amazing, and [Anne] goes to the effort of pulling one motif seen in a photo and placing its chart alongside. --Jillian Moreno, Modern Daily Knitting Author InformationAnne Barsgard is a handcrafting expert who studied textiles at the State College for Arts and Crafts in Bergen, Norway.
