OverviewThe application of the shear wall system in reinforced concrete (RC) buildings has become widely used to minimize seismic consequences. The present literature focuses on two different models with shear walls at different positions. The article showcases the parametric study in terms of displacement, storey drift, and base shear comparison for different location of shear wall in the building. The results are unique and fruitful for future attention. This paper focuses to see the effect of shear wall location in a multi-storied building. An in-plane building of G+10 (11 storey) structure having base dimension of 24m X 24m with typical floor height of 3.3m is considered. In this present work, a storied building was modeled using software and two different models were studied with different location of shear walls in building frame for critical parameters like displacement and base shear under lateral loading. The analysis has been carried out using the ETABS software and for analysis, seismic coefficient method is used. Two types of models (one with shear wall placed at middle of 4 periphery sides, one with shear wall placed at 4 corners in L shape) have been analyzed.
