Overview

This is a novella about a mysterious, bottomless well in the western United States. Inspired by a true story. -- Billy Sampson left his family behind to start a new life in Benton County, Washington. On his new property he discovers an ancient well with Native American roots going back to the migration west and the Trail of Tears. Billy investigates the well and experiences strange happenings on his property and hears strange rumors from his neighbors. He throws things down the well that never hit bottom. He hears his grandfather's voice calling to him from the depths, and the voices of his ancestors. When his daughter visits and falls down the well, Billy goes in after her.
