In ""Secrets of Life Before Birth: The Adventures of Oy and Spex and the Whomus' Monologues,"" Dr. Faustin creates scenarios and conversations that lead the reader to the frontiers of imagination and science. This novel covers the beginning of our human experience as well as the quest for optimal health and longevity. ""Secrets of Life Before Birth"" follows the conception and birth of Whomus, but it could be anyone's story. The highly specialized, unicellular precursors of a human being can be followed as either the Oy sisters or the Spex siblings, who are living and maturing in their respective habitats, speaking with one another, and pondering their roles in this process. The latter part of this presentation invites the reader to listen to the fetal being on her experience in solitude through this 300-day journey, at different stages of development until the time of her birth to the outer world. This is followed by her first interactions with her inner circle of humans as she begins this new chapter and continues her participation in the continuum of life.

Author Information

Dr. Daniel Faustin is a practicing physician in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and a graduate of the Free University of Brussels. Dr. Faustin credits his curiosity about the basic science underlying life in general to the early teachings he received from dedicated scientists at that institution in the 1970s. After nearly four decades of practice as an obstetrician-gynecologist, he published his first short science fiction novel, ""The Perillous Journey of Whomus in the Garden of Uter."" Dr. Faustin lives in New York with his wife Micaele. They are parents to three children and three grandchildren.
