I hope there really was a Rose Cottage somewhere. I love Rose Cottage and want to live there. Love the dogs! Great names! I always wondered what it would have been like to live at the beach during the war and before it all got built up. Now I feel like I know what it was like here in Bethany back in the day. This is not just a book for kids. It's a book grownups will love, too. The story of the German U-boats and the destruction they brought to the Mid-Atlantic coast of the United States is an underreported part of history. SECRET IN THE SAND really makes that time come alive. I'm really glad to read a book about Delaware. Lots of people don't even know Delaware is a state. I know the author is not the right age to have lived this story, but when I read SECRET IN THE SAND, I felt it was autobiographical. It was so real. How great that you put in so much history. Kids don't get enough exposure to history these days. Author InformationMargaret Taylor currently spends the summer months at her gray, shingled beach house near Bethany Beach, Delaware and lives in southeast Arizona during the winter.
