Overview

A concise and friendly introduction to topics in arithmetic, algebra and basic probability that are usually covered at high school level. The aim is to take the mystery out of the various rules and formulas that students encounter in their textbooks, and help them to reason independently and correctly about the properties of mathematical objects. Author Information

Dr. Sujith Vijay is a mathematician working in the areas of combinatorics and number theory. He has published 15 research articles in leading international journals and has taught 20 undergraduate courses at Rutgers University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram over a period of ten years. He was one of the coaches of the UIUC team for the Putnam Exam in 2008 and 2009, and a member of the interview panel for the KVPY scholarship examinations in India in 2013 and 2014. In addition to Secondary School Algebra, he has authored a chapter in the book Analytic Number Theory: Essays in Honour of Klaus Roth, and has also written a quiz book titled Sports Trivia Challenge.
