Author Information

Sam Chater is an English teacher and assistant head at a secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent, who has vast experience in initial teacher education and staff development. His love of studying literature began with a BA (Hons) in English Literature, followed by an MA in Victorian Studies and an MPhil. His favourite texts to read are typically from the Victorian period or dystopian genre. He has since achieved the national professional headteacher qualification and has been a governor in a number of schools across the primary and secondary phase, while remaining extremely passionate about teaching the subject that he loves. Lucy McConaghy is second in English at a secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent, as well as being the English subject lead and a subject mentor in initial teacher education and for early career teachers. Her BA (Hons) was in Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic (an interdisciplinary study of history, literature and languages) and this combination underpins her historicist, connective approach and ongoing fascination with and passion for the study and development of both literature and languages across time. Lucy has since achieved an MBA and the national professional middle leader qualification as well as attaining Chartered Teacher status through the Chartered College of Teaching.
