English summary: By 1500, the Renaissance humanist Sebastian Brant was one of the most well-known German jurists and authors in Europe. His famous Ship of Fools appeared in 1494 and quickly became a best-seller in and beyond German-speaking lands. This thorough and comprehensive bibliography created a new standard in research tools covering bibliographic information and sources: the complex presentation of manuscript information and manuscript transmission was specifically developed for this edition covering the key figure of German humanism. An exhaustive description of all works and sources, such as letters to and from Brant, is one of the highlights of this biographical reference work. A global investigation of sources has made it possible to identify and describe all manuscript collections that contain material related to Brant's life, including the great volume of autograph manuscripts currently held in the city archive of Strasburg.
