Author Information

Sonoran Rosie, also known as Rosie Crocker, lives in Tucson, Arizona, and grew up in the Sonoran Desert. She has worked with desert plants for 10 years and started her desert botanical business, also called Sonoran Rosie, in 2017. Rosie loves to work to build community and spread awareness about the benefits of desert plants. She believes in fostering connection between people, the earth, and the desert to give power and meaning to our lives. Sonoran Rosie started when Rosie discovered a lack of natural desert aromatherapy options. Inspired by local herbs like creosote, Rosie studied with Tucson, Arizona herbalists and created hair, self-care, and skincare products that capture desert essence. By foraging desert plants, Sonoran Rosie harnesses nature's properties for wellness and aromatherapy, while using sustainably sourced, organic ingredients and minimizing plastic use. A portion of proceeds support organizations like the Tucson Wildlife Center and the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection. In 2022, Rosie opened Arizona Poppy in downtown Tucson to showcase the local maker community, offering handmade jewelry, ceramics, vintage items, potted plants, and more from over 70 local artisans.
