Searching for the Light puts into poetry and prose, some of life's deepest struggles and uplifts them; allowing for careful scrutiny, processing, and liberation. Sharing insight from ceremonial healing and transformation, Joe Kunz is able to outline those experiences in a universal way which allows readers to relate and apply some of those same experiences to their own lives. Searching for the Light connects to the power within, embraces the healing power of nature, and invokes the power of our cosmology. This book explores the interbeing of existence, and celebrates the ordinary and extraordinary signs of growth and empowerment. This is a collection of poems, ideas, insights, and lyrics written over a span of about 2 years. I wanted to document the transformation and growth I am achieving through ceremonial healing as honestly and directly as possible. Many poems and ideas were reflections of a dissilusionment of a world that feels too busy to be compassionate. Too cacophonous to find peace, and too profit-driven to provide compassionate care to people who are struggling. I wanted to lovingly challenge the ideas I once held closely. I wanted to evaluate how much truth this feeling had to it, and transform this struggle into action. I also wanted to highlight the sacredness of ceremony, and express my gratitude to be invited into a sacred space. It is a process of growing respectfully and humbly, while simultaneously empowering myself to achieve things I never thought possible. This book is the bridge I've been building to my true self. It connects my individual past, my ancestral past, and keeps me rooted in the present. This book encapsulates the start of my journey towards healing; the process of deep questioning and connection to this existence. It is a reflection of my path to the light.
