OverviewThe book is a biography of Canon J. T. Richards, an Anglican priest in the Mission of Flower's Cove in Northern Newfoundland and Labrador from 1904-45. It tells of his relationship with Dr. Wilfred Grenfell, a friend and co-worker, from his first inspirational encounter with Grenfell in 1892 to Grenfell's death in 1940; his work among the people as priest and pastor, educator and advocate of their social and economic improvement; and his many personal interests including writing poems, learning mathematics and collecting local folklore and history. It also includes a diary he wrote during the winter of 1897-98 when he lived with the Burdett family at Indian Tickle, Labrador.
