OverviewSeagrass meadows and sand dunes are lesser known coastal ecosystems that are located landward from coral reefs and sometimes seaward from mangroves. At other times mangroves lie between sea grasses and sand dunes. These ecosystems are also important for coastal communities because of the services they provide and are critical components of a vital, interdependent and interconnected series of coastal ecosystems. The format of this booklet is the same as for the first two booklets, and describes both ecosystems, where they are found, their importance and the threats imposed by anthropogenic activities. Again, this booklet, like the first two in the series, is targeted at the general public and decision-makers and is written in simple language.
