The book does a great job of showing the local side of law enforcement, as well as a broader scope of multiple agencies coming together to fight the war on drugs. Mosca has an Associate in Arts degree in criminal justice from Miami-Dade Community College. He joined the Florida Highway Patrol in 1986 and worked a patrol and drug canine for nineteen years. He became a traffic homicide sergeant in Miami and the Florida Keys for seven years. His efforts, and those of the Troop E canine squad, were responsible for keeping the FHP at the forefront of the cocaine wars in South Florida during one of the most violent periods in Miami history.
