Overview

This publication presents an overview of science and technology (S and T) in Western Asia and gives a brief summary of implicit and explicit S and T policy orientations adopted. It describes policy and strategy formulation activities in a number of regions and countries around the world during the past decade and presents a systemic approach as a basis for analyzing S and T policies. A framework for future S and T policy formulation in the countries of Western Asia, based on this approach, is introduced and reviewed.
