Author Information

Stephen C. Y. Liu, a native of Hunan Province; received his B.Sc. (1951) and M.Sc. (1954) from National Taiwan University; and Ph.D. (1957) from University of Minnesota, majoring in Microbiology and Molecular Biology; and Post-doc. research experience under Nobel Laureate, Prof. Salvador E. Luria at M.I.T. (1971-72). With academic training, he was employed as Prof. of Microbiology and Molecular Biology at State University of Michigan for 30 years. In 1980 when diplomatic relation between USA and People's Republic of China was normalized, he began to teach-research in the land of his birth at Fudan Univ. in Shanghai; Beijing Teachers' University, Sichuan University, Zhejiang Medical University, Kweiyang Medical College and many other universities, as Visiting Professor. With all these scholarly activities he was able to elevate the biological teaching-research to molecular levels. Consequently, he authored two sets of textbooks of molecular biology for teaching-research use. In addition, he also authored one popularized science book entitled in Science and Christian Faith: Their Relationships in time of Past, Present and Future (1999) and An Autobiography: As Tent-Maker in Christian Ministry (1987). After 30 solid years of teaching-researching, he retired from academic life. With his wife Christine, a Nutritionist in public health (MPH), they have been living in the suburban area of Washington, D.C., engaging in scholarly writings and Christian Church ministry.
