Author Information

Mieko Nagakura (M.A., library science, Western Michigan) is Professor and Director of the School Library Laboratory, a training program at Tokyo Gakugei University, Tokyo. She has been a pioneer in research in school librarianship and is the author of many articles in the field. Jean E. Lowrie (Ph.D., Case Western Reserve) is Professor Emeritus, Library & Information Science, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. She has written many articles on international school library developments, served on the boards of IFLA and IASL, and been President of ALA, AASL, and IASL.
