Overview

Since 1992 Claire de Ruyt, assisted by an international team of experts, has investigated the block of the ""Tempio dei Fabri Navales"" (Temple of the Ship Carpenters), located along the western part of the Decumanus Maximus in Ostia. Thanks to multi-disciplinary work, it has been possible to investigate not only the late second-century A.D. Temple and its Late Antique deposit of semi-processed marbles, but also the succession of phases that preceded the building's construction, including the important discovery of a fullonica (fullery), built between the first and the second century A.D. and covered by the shrine at the end of 2nd century A.D.
