Get ready for a ghoulish mixture of stories, games, song and poems. Some a little scary, some slightly spooky and many are very ghostly. '13 Tales for Halloween' offers short stories; tongue twister spells; poems; a song and several games to play or even take part in. The picture-packed book offers children a fresh approach to their Halloween evening with tales about dressing up; trick or treating; black cats; corn mazes; night creatures; tea parties and much, much more. 'Scary, Spooky, Ghostly' is a modern children's picture book for Halloween, containing a mixture of short tales for a fun night inside the house and outside on Halloween night. This delightfully illustrated picture book contains 13 Halloween spooky tales created to thrill and entertain young readers. There are new characters which children will love including Misty the witch's cat; 'Glamorous pumpkins' and of course, the very scary 'Night creatures.' We follow ghosts, skeleton and spooks as they visit your house for tea. Everyone then gets dressed up to get ready for the Halloween evening of fun. Fun that includes scary games; spooky corn mazes; ghostly dancing and singing. 'When witches make spells; they bring feathers and beads; soft shells and hard seeds; some selfie photos; petals and stones; bathwater with bones, and ribbons and string, to make scary things. Because witches are so busy on Halloween.' - Witches Potions. Scary, Spooky, Ghostly- 13 tales for Halloween is colourful and wonderfully illustrated with friendly-looking, ghostly characters that children will be fond of and like to revisit again. It can be read as a scary, bedtime read or in sections, selected for quick reading and amusement. The children's picture book has a Halloween dance and a sing-along called 'Funky Halloween'. There are poems and tales of where the ghosts come from on Halloween night and also where they all return to. The stories are light-hearted and designed for fun so follow ghosts; witches; mummies; skeletons and many more as they visit for a very, special Halloween. 'The jelly is shaking with zombie ice cream; white chocolate bats are ready to scream.' - The Tea Party. 'The autumn soil allows for veggies to grow and grow and grow from their roots down below.' - Glamorous Pumpkins. 'And when everyone has gone. Every ghost and witch and spook. There will be only one left; feeling a bit misunderstood.' - The Scarecrow.

Reviews

'We shared this book with Year 2 and Year 3 children, as part of our reading group. The children loved the stories and it will be perfect to share on Halloween time where children will get dressed up. It reminded both myself and the children of the real meaning of Halloween and it was beautiful to share.' - Juro reading group. 'This is a lovely book for small children. I love reading this with my children at bedtime or when we are having some one on one time. I find that it really captures their interest because as well as the stories themselves, children will also get ideas from this book to sing, dress up and play games for Halloween. The design and illustration are also wonderful. It would make a lovely little gift for a toddler at Halloween.' - Bus reading blog. 'We loved this little book! It's a must-read for all young children at Halloween. It's well-illustrated, colourful, easy to follow and exciting for children who get up the festivities of Halloween. Very happy with this book for Halloween.' - Tulemben poetry and reading group.
