Overview

This book was written to help children understand the concepts of change, loss, farewells, and endings. It was also written to encourage children to discuss their thoughts and emotions about these events with parents and teachers. It contains beautifully illustrated examples of 'Goodbye' moments that children can identify with. The calming colours and gentle, reassuring words, combine to help children understand that loss is a part of life. When we say goodbye, it's ok to feel sad, but the memories remain in our hearts and minds forever. The characters in the illustrations tell a story, can you discover what that is? What does the balloon represent? All is revealed at the end of the book. Happy reading!

Author Information

Writing has always been a passion for Lisa, and it's her sincere wish that this (and future books, ) will reach as many children as possible. She had a background in Community Education during her 20's, and this is where her ongoing desire to help children began to develop. Lisa went on to study nursing, and in her 50's became a trainer in Vocational Education. She has now combined her love of writing and her life experiences as a mother of 3 (and a grandmother of 5, ) to bring you this delightful book. Saying Goodbye should be readily available to every child, as it explains beautifully what parents and caregivers sometimes have difficulty in trying to say. Simply written, this book will not doubt inspire both children and adults to move forward grief, in the knowledge that they will always be able to remember those they love, long after they're gone.
