The book also contains Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH) levels for approximately 1,000 chemicals.

Lewis, Sr. of Lewis Information Systems, Inc. is a chemist with extensive experience in air and industrial pollution measurement, industrial hygiene research, and toxicological and chemical information systems. Formerly manager of Information Systems for the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety, Lewis is the author of a number of widely used references, including: Sax's Dangerous Properties of Industrial Materials (8th - 11th Editions), Rapid Guide to Hazardous Chemicals in the Workplace (2nd and 3rd Editions), Reproductively Active Chemicals, and Hawley's Condensed Chemical Dictionary (14th and 15th Editions) -- all published by John Wiley and Sons.
