Reviews

I couldn't put this book down ... Love the poignancy and humor combo - and the description of her heartfelt struggles and attempts to resolve them. A real snapshot in time and a good memory jogger of an era loaded with change across multiple spectrums, e.g., political, faith, social and on it goes. A candid perspective that needs no defense. Really well written. A thoughtful book with a fine mixture of general observations as well as details to make it real, valuable, enjoyable and a very worthwhile read. This is what it means to believe deeply in something other than yourself and to find the right place to follow your calling. Uplifting from beginning to end. Having blossomed and grown in faith and optimism with John XXIII as Pope and JFK as president, Elizabeth conveys the future frustrations many of us felt. Graduating from a Catholic college in 1967, we hit the wall, trying to cope with the weaknesses and politicization of our Church in the real world. Captivating storytelling that offers a peek behind the curtain of a turbulent time. Elizabeth is descriptive always, humorous at times, and left me with a better understanding of what it means to fully question and persevere.
