Overview

Author Information

"Edwin Stepp has more than thirty years experience in media, marketing and advertising. He was executive editor for the quarterly, Vision—Journal for a New World, for over 15 years. The magazine was distributed in over 75 countries worldwide. He wrote dozens of articles about history, culture, religion, environment and current events for the publication. The magazine had a companion Website that had hundreds of thousands of visitors each month. Edwin led the development of the Website and also a mobile app for additional distribution of the content. In that position he also helped write and edit several books about Jewish and Christian history published by the journal. In 2011, Edwin founded Django Productions, a television and film production company that focuses on documentaries and nonfiction entertainment. Believing the old adage, ""Truth is stranger than fiction,"" Django Productions specializes in documentaries, nonfiction TV and feature films about true stories and historical events. The company co-produced Vinylmania, a film about the resurgence of vinyl records and also The Last Wild Race, a film about a grueling adventure race held each year in the Chilean Patagonia. Django is just completing work on a documentary about the legendary blues singer, Howlin' Wolf, another about America’s most prolific science fiction writer, Ray Bradbury, who wrote Fahrenheit 451. Several feature films are in development, including a dramatic story about the plundering of the largest gold find in Latin America, another about history's most prolific art forger and one about Bill Monroe, the man who created Bluegrass music. For decades, Leon Kleiner could not bring himself to talk in depth about his terrifying story of survival during the Holocaust. Many times he was asked by various groups and organizations to speak about it. The few times he did accept the invitation, he chose to speak only very briefly and to give tribute to the many childhood friends he lost rather than offer details about his escape. He was asked by Stephen Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation to document the dramatic account and initially accepted. But on the morning of the interview, he could not bring himself to relive the terrible events, so he called and cancelled. But, as he saw anti-Semitism once again surging throughout the world, he decided it was time to add to the countless stories already documented and to give honor to the man who helped his family survive. Leon is now in his nineties and is one of a very few Holocaust survivors still living. He and his wife, Halina, have been married almost 70 years and have raised a beautiful and successful family, to whom he dedicated this book. They currently reside in South Orange, New Jersey."
