OverviewDr. Timothy Chae is an educator, researcher, and test-prep specialist whose work centers on one mission: helping students truly understand how thinking works. With more than twenty years of experience teaching Measurement, Evaluation, and Statistical Analysis at Florida International University, he has guided future teachers and researchers to think critically about how mathematical understanding is measured, strengthened, and applied. He holds a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Research Methodology and Statistics. His graduate research examined how mathematical reasoning and reading comprehension intersect-how stories, logic, and numbers together shape the way students grasp complex ideas. This interdisciplinary perspective continues to influence his approach to high-school math and SAT preparation today. Over the years, Dr. Chae has observed a troubling pattern: even students with strong school grades often fall short of their goals on standardized exams such as the SAT, ACT, PSAT, GRE, GMAT, and FTCE. They put in enormous time, effort, and resources, yet their scores do not rise as expected. The issue is not the students-it is the way they study and prepare. Traditional instruction focuses on memorizing formulas and procedures, while standardized tests demand flexible reasoning, visualization, and application in unfamiliar contexts. Dr. Chae's method addresses this gap. He uses a dual-approach instructional system-one aligned to school curricula and another that he developed through decades of teaching and assessment research. He teaches students to visualize problems instead of mechanically manipulating symbols. When students can picture a scenario, they can understand it, plan their steps, and solve it with confidence. When they cannot, they remain stuck, anxious, and lost. His instruction transforms dense word problems into simple mathematical ideas without requiring students to memorize dozens of theoretical formulas. Combined with encouragement, supportive guidance, and the belief that every learner is capable of growth, his approach turns pressure into understanding-and understanding into success. In addition to SAT preparation, Dr. Chae has coached many learners participating in U.S. mathematics competitions, including the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) series. By strengthening creative reasoning and problem-solving fluency, he helps motivated students stretch beyond the curriculum and engage with mathematics at an advanced level. Beyond the classroom, Dr. Chae has served as an assessment consultant and statistical analyst for national literacy and learning initiatives funded by the U.S. Department of Education. He has co-authored research on children's mathematical concept development, cognitive processing styles, and bilingual learning-reflecting his lifelong commitment to uncovering how students think and how assessments can reveal their hidden strengths. Today, he works independently with schools, teachers, and families to make testing a tool for insight-not anxiety. His message to every learner remains simple and empowering: ""Mathematics is not just about getting the right answer - it is about learning how to think clearly, creatively, and confidently."" Through his SAT Math series, Dr. Chae invites students to discover that clarity for themselves-gaining skills that reach far beyond any score.
