Reviews

""Sarajevo Roses"" was composed as an homage to a land ravaged by war and struggling to survive. Since his time on the ground there in 2003, the region has improved, but the scars of war remain in the landscape and in the faces of those who remember. ""Sarajevo Roses is a visceral experience for the senses that will leave its readers spellbound. The truth of war and its devastating effects are unmasked in this expertly penned poetry collection...with his riveting words and photographs that will stay with me."" -- Holly Knightley, Author Knight Time Novellas ""I can identify with this collection, flying so many nights over Serbian, Bosnian, and Kosovoan skies. The poem that haunts me is 'Sarajevo Roses, ' in the middle, yet the most poignant. I just can't let that mental picture go."" -- Leslie Maher Brig Gen, USAF (Ret) ""Jason Markiewitz provides a biographical reading tour through a war tormented land, told from a real-life point of view, with his living history in verse....an impactful poetic champion, Sarajevo Roses is a must read!"" -- Carmen Bouldin, Teacher Host, The 6 Degrees of Edgar Allan Poe Podcast
